The Cliff of Monte Cristo and beeing INFP

December 29, 2008 at 10:40 am (INFP) (, , , , )

David de Angelo talks about symbols. He says that The Cliff of Monte Cristo is a symbol that we all might encounter in our lives.

Monte Cristo was a prisoner on an island and the jail was places on a very high rock next to the seashore. He had do options: live in the prison forever or try to escape by jumping of the cliff and into the sea. This second option implied a risk of dying – by crashing into the rocks – and a risk of the unknown as well.

In a way we all encounter this kind of decision at some point. Do we keep with the safe path that is less rewarding, or do we take a risk. I hate taking risks, but I am to much of a dreamer to accept living the “less rewarding” life.

In the current months, my life feels like: I have jumped off the cliff, but I am still in the air, there still is a risk of “dying”.

This is not a good time for an INFP. I need a lot of energy and self-belief now to make things happen as I want them too. But instead I am full of worries and lack self-confidence.

My brother tells me to think like in “The Secret”. To think about what I want happening and not about what I fear might happen.

When I disconnect form action I feel happy with what my plans and perspectives are, but when I need to act I am full of doubts, of unanswered questions, of fear – what if I don’t make it?

Hopefully I’ll find a way to make it work. If I do, I’ll let you know how I did it.
